Wellness Business Marketing Strategy: Why Tactics Alone Don’t Work
If you own a wellnes business, you’ve probably felt it: the endless to-do list, the random posts, the “must-do” marketing hacks…
Here’s the truth: you might be confusing tactics with strategy.
I tend to be an all-or-nothing person. My therapist says it’s classic perfectionism. Sigh.
When I stopped nursing my youngest, I decided it was time to “lose the baby weight.” (A term that now makes me want to puke, but whatever.)
I bought three different cleanses. Downloaded endless reset recipes. Bought a Vitamix. Joined a workout group. Downloaded the Nike Training app.
One week later: burnt out. Three kids. A business to run. Me, exhausted and frustrated, feeling like a failure.
What happened? TACTICS WITHOUT STRATEGY.
If I’d paused for a minute (which I definitely didn’t do back then) I would’ve realized what I really wanted: to get to know this new version of me. It wasn’t about fitting into pre-mom jeans.
Whether in business or life, tactics without strategy = burnout, chaos, and overwhelm. Stop spinning your wheels. Get clarity first.
Tactics vs. Strategy in Your Wellness Business
Tactics = the things you do. Posting on Instagram, sending newsletters, running ads, launching a new offer.
Strategy = the why behind the actions. The big picture. Understanding:
Who you’re trying to help
What exactly you’re selling
Why it matters
How every action supports the vision of your business
Without strategy, all those posts, funnels, and workshops are just chaos. Your clients are confused. You’re confused. Burnout looms.
Common Mistake: Spending Money Without Clarity
A lot of wellness pros think they have a marketing problem, so they:
Hire a social media manager and a VA
Build a shiny new website
Get on a different social media platform
Take another course
Launch a new offer
Get yet another certification
None of it matters if you’re not clear on your message. Then you spend money, get frustrated… and maybe start thinking marketing, or even entrepreneurship, isn’t for you.
How to Fix It
Before you pick a tactic, answer these questions:
What’s the message I want to share?
What do I want people to know?
What matters — to me and to my clients? WHY does it matter?
When you do this, tactics stop feeling overwhelming. Every post, every email, every offer serves a purpose.
